Action Anime Reviews: Shadow Skill: The Movie

Shadow Skill: The Movie
This was an interesting thought provoking action anime title, which ends more like a television series than a movie. This anime title reminds me of a martial arts styled version of Slayers, with the character types being a bit more serious. The premise is two men stand atop a towering pinnacle of stone. One is Scarface, the disfigured champion of the Shadow Skill. The other is Gau Ban of the Black Howling. It has been ten years since they first me, ten years in which the untrained boy has become a fearsome warrior. A decade earlier, in the kingdom of Koruda, elite fighters battle for honor beneath the blood red flag of King Falkai. While Ella Ragu limbers up for an apocalyptic confrontation with the demon beast Barsalf, her adopted brother Gau is surprised by the arrival of a mysterious masked figure. After the fight, it is this man who gives Gau the strength to triumph when he a Ell are attacked by the mighty Goa X. Ella and Gau later join spell caster Fowari, and young fighter Quo in a desperate attempt to defeat a carnivorous demon know as the "King of the Moon". But even as they work together, conflict grows deep within the group. Watched by the enigmatic Scarface, friendships erupts into lethal combat, Shadow Skill versus Death Magic in a fight to the finish.

Although the animation in this title was quite good, there seemed to be something missing. During the entire anime I felt like I had walked into the middle of a conversation without knowing what the conversation was about. It's not until the end of the movie that you finally start to really understand what is going on, then the title abruptly ends leaving you with more questions than answers. The sound is decent, the voiceovers were a bit odd. The actors doing the voiceovers sound like they were Austrailian trying to speak with an American accent. The voice acting was ok, not great. The characters overall were quite easy to get attached to and like. I recommend this anime to all anime lovers who like the Project A-ko series, High Kick or Street Fighter series.
