Hakugei: The Legend of Moby DickThis anime title takes place in the year 4699 after the great space exploration bubble. During the time of the bubble, corporations of all kinds were building large scale space vessels and sending them into the deep reaches of space. After the burst of the bubble, these crewless drifting ships became known as whales, and the scavengers of these ships known as whale hunters. A young boy that goes by the name of Lucky Luck, sets off to find Captain Ahab and join his crew of outlaw whale hunters. Only Ahab can save Lucky Luck's home planet from the most horrific beast know throughout the universe as Moby Dick.
The concept of this anime as far as the storyline goes isn't all bad. There are a few twists and turns thrown into the mix to keep it intersting. However, the corny crew of Captain Ahab as well as Captain Ahab himself lends this anime title to be pretty bad. The animation in this title is quite bad. It looks to be quite similar to the animation styles of Slayers or early anime like Robotech. The voice overs are decent, however the characters themselves make the voice overs bad. I didn't like this anime at all, it seemed too overdone. The characters are very predictable, as are the situations they end up in. I don't recommend this anime, it's a decent idea, but a bad end product.
