Eureka SevenCountless months and years have passed since mankind was driven from its home world. Searching for a new place to live, they finally arrived at "the promised land." It was a bleak and desolate place. the surface of the new world that spread before them was like an immense coral reef. And the atmosphere contained particles like nothing mankind had ever encountered before, "transparence light particles" also called "trapar." In order to survive, the people were forced to cultivate the ground, and huge towers were constructed to make the most use of the trapar. Towns sprang up under the towers, and gathering the respective towers together a unified government was established, the United Federation of Predgio Towers.
Several centuries pass...
Then one day a phenomenon called the "Summer of Love" brought disaster to the world. The resulting chaos led to a wordwide recession. In response, mankind revived a decision-making institutuion that was a product of their days wandering the stars, "The Sage Council." (Or "The Council of the Wise.") After which it appeared that order was restored however...
This story begins in a place that has long lost its enthusiasm for construction and development where the excesses and indulgence of industry are no more, a tower state called "Bellforest." Living with his grandfather on the outskirts of Bellforest, a teenaged boy name Renton is extremely dissatisfied with his life. He can't escape the shadow of his father, Adrock Thorston, the heroic man who gave his life to stop the desctruction of the "Summer of Love." And his grandfather, who runs a mechanic business, already has Renton's future planned out for hime.
The only thing Renton has to live for is "lifting," a sport that involves utilizing the trapar to glide through the sky. He dreams of flying all over the world, lifting wherever and whenever he wants, just like Holland, a ref-rider who is very popular amomng the young people of the world. Renton hlpes that someday the waves will come for him too.
And then one day, something happens that changes Renton's life forever. A legendary LFO (Ligh Finding Operation - a special fighting machine with a humanoid shape), the Nirvash, falls onto Renton's house. And from the machine emerges a beautiful girl name Eureka. She explains that the Nirvash has been performing poorly and she has come to have it serviced. Renton falls in love with her a first sight. But a United Federation Force KLF (Military LFO) unit appears in pursuit of Eureka and the Nirvash. Wanting to protect Eureka, Renton takes off after her. In desperation, he installs a mysterious mechanism, a device Renton's father left behind and his grandfather kept secretly hidden, called the "Amita Drive" into the Nirvash. After which the Nirvash displays an incredible amount of power and they are able to escape danger.
Eureka asks Renton to come with here. Eureka is part of a group of pirates called "Gekkostate," who are led by Renton's idol, Holland. Renton learns that Holland knew his father. He decides to go with the Gekkostate in order to see more of the world and find his purpose in life. On his journey Renton will encounter some shocking truths and confront a harsh destiny.
This anime title locks you in almost instantly with is mysterious twists and appealing characters. The voice overs and acting is decent and the music and sound effects are good. The animation is top notch and quite beautiful. I recommend this to all fans of the action anime genre.
